Fiji Airstrips
==============
Simple Afcads and exclude files for 25 airstrips in Fiji that Microsoft omitted from FS9.
Made primarily with Ultimate Traffic users in mind, to provide full traffic in the Fiji Islands. Afcads to add runways, aprons, parking spots and Traffic frequencies; exclude files to get rid of the autogen trees. Airstrips built using current data from Australian Defense Force En Route Supplements, so runway locations, dimensions, alignments and elevations are as accurate as FS9's wandering coastlines will allow.
Aprons and parking spots entirely fictional! And no airport buildings included!
IMPORTANT:
Tested only with default scenery plus fijifix.zip by Jim Keir (available at avsim) to correct elevation errors in the default mesh. This is not essential as the AI aircraft are not affected, but is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you intend to visit Moala, otherwise your altimeter will read -50' on the ground!
Contains the following airstrips (N.B. I have used the names given in Ultimate Traffic, some of which differ from the official documentation!)
YAS/NFSW Yasawa Island Airport / Yasawa Island
S16*46.5646' E177*31.72', elev 34.6'
rwy 13/31 1950x100' gravel
VTF/NFVL Vatulele Island Airport / Vatulele Island
S18* 31.27' E177* 37.80, elev 56.6'
rwy SE/NW 2494x60' Gravel
NFKB Kaibu Island Airfield / Kaibu Island
S17* 15.35' W179* 28.47', elev 20.1'
rwy 12/30 2382x60' grass
INSTALLATION:
Non-Ultimate Traffic users:
Simply copy all the bgl files to \Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\scenery and the airports will appear in FS9.
To create AI flightplans, you will need these lines in your Airports.txt file:
NFCI,S17* 44.99',W179* 20.00',10
NFFO,S17* 46.72',E177* 12.04',10
NFKD,S19* 3.50',E178* 9.85',3
NFMA,S17* 40.28',E177* 6.32',10
NFMO,S18* 33.99',E179* 57.99',10
NFNB,S17* 41.99',E178* 46.00',10
NFNH,S16* 44.99',W179* 40.00',10
NFNK,S18* 11.99',W178* 49.00',279
NFNO,S17* 20.95',E179* 24.87',358
NFNS,S16* 47.99',E179* 20.99',13
NFVB,S17* 13.99',W178* 57.00',154
Ultimate Traffic users:
1. Copy all the bgl files to \Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\scenery.
2. Launch FS9 and let it rebuild its scenery database, then exit.
3. Go to \Flight Simulator 9\Flight One Software\Ultimate Traffic and run CollectAirports.exe to create a new Airports_FS2004.txt file.
4. Launch UT, go to Utilities > Airports, search for each airport in turn and enter the 4-digit ICAO code (e.g. NFNB for Levuka etc., see list above!) in place of the asterisks **** in the "FS2004 Assignment Identifier" box at the bottom. Don't forget to hit "Save" after each one! Note also that there is one more airport in Fiji that UT does not have assigned, even though it DOES exist in FS9 (TVU Matei Airport/Taveuni). Search for TVU and assign it the code NFNM.
5. Recompile the UT traffic file.
6. Go to \Flight Simulator 9\Flight One Software\Ultimate Traffic\PalmSpotter and delete the 4 .dat files. Then run UT and let it rebuild them.
NOTES!
======
To get the full benefit of these Afcads and full traffic at all airports in UT, you will need to have installed aircraft and/or textures for the Air Fiji Twin Otter, E120 and E110, and for the Sun Air Pacific Twin Otter and Islander (or at least have something assigned to them in UT!), as well as the Afcads for the other Fiji airports from the UT install or updater. If you need help with this, mosey on over to the UT forums at
http://dcforum.simforums.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi
But even with all aircraft assigned, the traffic at these airstrips is fairly sparse:
Savusavu 5 to 9 flights/day
Mana Is 2-5 flights/day
Malololailai 2-4 flights/day
Levuka 1-2 flights/day
Kandavu 1 flight/day
Vanuabalavu 2 flights/week
but at least you will see many more regional aircraft parked at the main airports at Nadi and Nausori, which was my main reason for creating these Afcads!
Five of the airports provided here (Cicia, Koro, Lakeba, Laucala, Moala) don't have any traffic assigned in UT in the summer 04 schedules. I have included these on a "just-in-case" basis. The new winter schedules are due any month now! ;>
The one Fijian airstrip in UT's database I have NOT included is NGI/NFNG Ngau Island. The reason for this is that Microsoft has neglected to include the southern half of the island - where the airport is located. Rather than relocate the airstrip several miles north, I decided to leave it out, considering also that UT has no flights assigned to it in any case (at least, not in the Su04 schedules).
Hope you find these files helpful!
